Graduate Spotlight: Emily Beard

见到艾米丽, an Early 大学 High School student who will be receiving a high school diploma 和 an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. 

Emily currently attends Memorial Early 大学 High School in New Braunfels, TX. She is part of the early college program that integrates high school 和 college coursework, which allows students to earn a high school diploma 和 an industry-recognized associate degree simultaneously. 

With an associate degree in h和, Emily plans to work towards attending medical school at Baylor University with an interest in working in the areas of Radiology 和 Dermatology.

Emily’s interest in the medical field was sparked while attending the National Academy of Future Physicians 和 Medical Scientists Conference in Boston, MA, in 2018. 会议期间, she was captivated by the live surgery exhibits 和 enjoyed listening to the featured speakers who inspired her to consider a future as a medical professional. She was in ninth grade at the time.

Emily accredits her goal-oriented mindset 和 discipline to observing her father’s accomplishments. “Knowing that my dad is a first-generation graduate has motivated me. I see how hard he works for me 和 how dedicated he is which is something I adopted,” 她说.

The support 和 encouragement from her parents 和 teachers have contributed to her dedication 和 commitment to academia. Her academic excellence has offered her the opportunity to take part in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as well as other national honor societies.

She lives by the quotes, “you can achieve anything that you set your mind to” 和 “try your best 和 you’ll always succeed”. In her free time, Emily enjoys puzzles 和 arts 和 crafts.
